RACE PROCEDURE

Registration for Friday IROC opens at 6:30 PM. Please sign up early. Racing will begin at 7:30 PM SHARP!

All Junior and Senior IROC events run on The GRANDSTAND will be run as Round Robin races with 3 minutes On and 2 Off. On THE WHIP events will be 2 Minutes On and 2 Off regardless of the number of entries. The Series director may modify this procedure for special events or occasions.

There will be 15 minutes of intermission/practice for The Senior Series after the Junior event is complete. This may be shortened during a large turn-out event.

If you are a “sit out” driver, your car must be impounded and you must corner marshal. No work may be done to your car by yourself, or any other person.

You MUST corner marshal when called upon, even if you feel it is not “your turn”. Failure to marshal will result in a 5-lap penalty for each heat and possible disqualification from the race event(s). This penalty will be imposed immediately and you will be notified as such.

No entry fee or prize will be redeemed. When necessary a mutually agreeable substitute marshal may take your place, but you must notify the race director ahead of time. Corner marshals may not leave their positions to work on someone else’s car.

Working on another racers car when you should be a marshal will result in a 5-lap penalty for the person whose car you are working on and yourself.

Marshals should only make minor, immediate repairs to cars while at their positions (fix braid, “repair” fender/ body.). If the work on the car is serious enough to impair a marshal’s ability to do his or her job, the car must be given to the driver or his/her pit crew.

Volunteering to marshal when you are not required does not excuse you from marshaling when you are required. A marshal’s number one priority is putting de-slotted cars back in their correct slot.

There are no track calls except for track failures, a car in a dangerous position, or a car out of reach. This is the race director’s call and/or an assistant.

All power-on situations will be loud vocal announcements. This will be done to prepare the drivers properly for the race start. Marshals must always be prepared. Power coming on ...now”, etc will be used. This includes the start of the race, restarts, and lane changes.

The lap counter will be adjusted for missed laps if verified by the race director and at least one corner marshal and/or objective observer.

Drivers that start the race as sit out drivers must have their cars impounded before the race starts. All IROC Cars must be placed at the Race Director Table/Tech Booth. When a driver is sitting out his/her car must be returned to this area. The Top 6 Cars will be teched after every race event.

Racers must use the same chassis and body for the entire race, all other components may be changed. Lane change markers must be used any time a car is removed from the track during a lane change. The penalty for the first offense is the car will be placed at the farthest point from the lap counter.

A second offense will result in a 5 lap penalty and a third offense will result in disqualification. A drivers Lane change markers can be no smaller than a credit card.
